SUMMARY:Rev. Dr. Elaine Strawn — Choices\, Choices\, Choices!
DESCRIPTION:Sunday Service — 10:30 a.m. \nLeader — Reed Richmond \nSpeaker — Rev. Dr. Elaine Strawn \nTitle — Choices\, Choices\, Choices! \nTopic — Voting isn’t far from our thoughts these days. We’ve been examining our choices carefully for months! So much depends on it. No matter the results\, wise spiritual teachers remind us of the most important choice. It isn’t what happens to us; it is how we choose to react. How can we develop the inner strength and resilience to choose how to respond from our deepest wisdom and strength? How do we open to possibility? \nBio — Rev. Elaine Strawn retired from UU pastoral ministry in 2019\, after having served Wooster\, Canton and Westfield congregations. She is temporarily serving as our Primary Contact with the Central East Region of the UUA.\nIn her spare time\, she enjoys gardening\, walking with her spouse and their Corgi\, and playing with their two month old grandson. \nJoin us downstairs after service for coffee and conversation. \nMasks are optional in the building\, and we fully support individuals’ choices regarding their use.

SUMMARY:Ron Boyd — Does Democracy Survive?
DESCRIPTION:Sunday Service — 10:30 a.m. \nNo Children’s RE today\, but children are always welcome to stay upstairs with their parent(s) during any service. \nLeader — Hayley Young \nSpeaker — Ron Boyd \nTitle — Does Democracy Survive? \nTopic — Our 5th principle is: The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large. In recent times it seems we have come very close to losing our national democracy\, and we must remain ever vigilant in ensuring that it continues to endure. We’ll examine in greater depth issues surrounding this vital issue. \nBio — In 2016 Ron founded his organization Mystic Spirit Presentations which serves to inform\, educate\, and inspire interested parties throughout Ohio and beyond. He is the past president of Merging Hearts Spiritual Center in Canton Ohio\, where he led numerous programs on topics pertaining to spiritual growth\, religious education\, and environmental education. \nRon attended and served his local UU congregation for over 20 years\, a twice past president of his local congregation\, and has spoken for numerous UU congregations and religious organizations over the years. He speaks on a variety of topics\, drawing from a diverse range of sources. He is a strong advocate for finding solutions for our current environmental issues\, and sees this as one of the most critical moral issues we are facing in our time. \nRon sees our values as UU’s lead us into a wider circle that eventually expands to include the entire planet. We do not seek to make others believe exactly like us but rather to become more inclusive in our diversity and acceptance\, with the goal of a world community united in the bond of love. \nJoin us downstairs after service for coffee and conversation. \nMasks are optional in the building\, and we fully support individuals’ choices regarding their use.
