SUMMARY:Family Spirits Celebration Potluck and Hungry Ghost Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:Come after the service to Sacred Stones Mystical Farm for a Family Spirits Celebration Potluck and Hungry Ghosts Ceremony.\nFamily Spirits Celebration Potluck and Hungry Ghost Ceremony\nSunday\, September 14\, 2025\nSacred Stone Mystical Farm\n1-4 pm\nPotluck starts at 1pm and Hungry Ghost Ceremony starts at 2pm\n\nFor the potluck\, bring food that a loving person who you would like to honor loved to eat\, a story\, song\, dance connected to that person. You are encouraged to honor a deceased person in your life who has continued to care for you and’/your family from the other side through After Death Communication (ADC). Our feast is to show gratitude and to care for that reality of enduring love in our lives. Love does not die. After death\, our relationships change shape and continue to evolve.\n\nThe potluck will be followed by a Hungry Ghost Ceremony for all people\, all times\, all places. In the film\, The Sixth Sense\, the character played by Bruce Willis is a typical Hungry Ghost. He is a person who does not know he is dead. Persons who die violently\, suddenly\, or young sometimes get confused and caught in a chronic loop of suffering. The Hungry Ghost or Wandering Soul\nCeremony originates with the Buddhist tradition. We join with the intention of waking them up from their confusion\, helping them remember who they are and inviting them to move to a better place. Chris Reynolds will share the Hungry Ghost Ceremony used by Warriors Journey Home in their peace and reconciliation pilgrimages to Vietnam and in the Witness Tree liturgy.

SUMMARY:Christopher Reynolds — Remember There Is A Heaven\, pt. 2: The Message of Johnny Appleseed and Swedenborg
DESCRIPTION:Sunday Service — 10:30 a.m. \nLeader — Brian Moore \nSpeaker — Christopher Reynolds \nTitle — Remember There Is A Heaven\, pt. 2: The Message of Johnny Appleseed and Swedenborg \nTopic — John Chapman was inspired by Emmanuel Swedenborg’s teaching that\, “God is pure love. Whether we worship God or the Great Spirit\, whether we live in a log cabin\, a wigwam\, or an igloo\, we are children of the same Creator. Everyone who is born has an equal chance of going to heaven. We go there every time we think of a noble thought\, and we stay there when it becomes our nature to love others more than ourselves.” Join Christopher Reynolds as we return to the Tree. \nThere will be a Hungry Ghost ceremony at Sacred Stones Mystical farm for continuing the healing from the war violence that was part of our bio region’s history \nBio — F. Christopher Reynolds\, M.Ed.\, is a singer\, teacher and alchemical shaman. His mission is Home-Making — to sing about\, to teach\, and to heal American culture’s sacred relationships with the lands\, ancestors\, peoples\, and stars. He is a singer-songwriter with 20 original albums.  He is the lead author on the only published papers on depth psychology\, giftedness\, soul\, and creativity. SUMMARY:Rev. Dr. Elaine Strawn — What Would Joanna Macy Do?
DESCRIPTION:Sunday Service — 10:30 a.m. \nLeader — Jen Gibson \nSpeaker — Rev. Dr. Elaine Strawn \nTitle — What Would Joanna Macy Do? \nTopic — We have lost a great leader in the recent death of Joanna Macy. But she might query: “What have you lost? You still have your love of nature and humanity.  You still have your calling.” The woman who pointed us to Active Hope (no matter the circumstances) invited us to identify the love and commitment within us to heal the world.  There will be time in the service for you to share the names of folks who have inspired such Hope and Compassion within you. \nBio — Rev. Dr. Elaine served as the settled minister in the UU Fellowship of Wayne County in Wooster for 23 years before semi-retiring. SUMMARY:Christopher Reynolds — Remember There Is A Heaven\, pt. 1
DESCRIPTION:Sunday Service — 10:30 a.m. \nLeader — Hayley Young \nSpeaker — Christopher Reynolds \nTitle — Remember There Is A Heaven\, pt. 1 \nTopic —Join Christopher Reynolds for this invitation to renew democracy by returning to our Western roots. Plato’s Republic encourages a healthy self-esteem. In chapter 10\, The Myth of Er\, Socrates reminds us that human souls are immortal and we participate in the choosing of our lives. \nIn closing Socrates advises: “Wherefore my counsel is\, that we hold fast ever to the heavenly way and follow after justice and virtue always\, considering that the soul is immortal and able to endure every sort of good and every sort of evil.” \nAs we re-define American democracy together\, our souls’ innate resilience can help us evolve from a culture that holds fast to the heavenly way into a culture that holds fast to a sacred union of Heaven and Earth – a Way of Water. \nWhen human beings remember their Original Instructions\, there is a Heaven and It is spread upon the Earth. \nBio — F. Christopher Reynolds\, M.Ed\,\, is a singer\, teacher and alchemical shaman. His mission is Home-Making — to sing about\, to teach\, and to heal American culture’s sacred relationships with the lands\, ancestors\, peoples\, and stars. He is a singer-songwriter with 20 original albums.\nHe is the lead author on the only published papers on depth psychology\, giftedness\, soul\, and creativity. Chris is also published in organic creativity\, holistic learning and spirituality in education. He is a co-founder of archetypal ecology and No Man’s Folk.\nHe is a board member and ritual consultant for Warriors Journey Home and has been a ritual leader with them since 2015\, including 2 pilgrimages to Vietnam. His website is: www.urrealist.com \nJoin us downstairs after service for coffee and conversation. \nMasks are optional in the building\, and we fully support individuals’ choices regarding their use.

SUMMARY:Rev. Joan VanBecelaere — Reflections on Matthew Chapter 25
DESCRIPTION:Sunday Service — 10:30 a.m. \nLeader — Margaret Lin \nSpeaker — Rev. Joan VanBecelaere \nTitle — Reflections on Matthew Chapter 25 \nTopic — In our current politics\, one side speaks of the tens of millions who will be cut off from their health care and their food. The other side says nobody will feel the cuts as they strip away essential food and medical programs. Politicians ignore the pain of low-income US families and tell vulnerable people to fill out more forms and just work harder.\nIn the gospel of Matthew Chapter 25\, Jesus tells a prophetic story and closes it saying ” I was hungry\, I was thirsty\, I was naked\, I was a stranger\, I was sick\, I was in prison. What you do to “the least of these\,” you do to me.” On Aug 10\, we will unpack this gospel story and the modern meaning of “least of these.” \nBio — Rev. Joan VanBecelaere is a retired Unitarian Universalist community minister. Prior to retirement\, she was the Executive Director of Unitarian Universalist Justice Ohio. She has also served as regional Lead with the Central East Region\, district executive for the old Ohio Meadville District\, vice president for student services at Iliff School of Theology in Denver CO. She has a long standing interest in politics and has a masters of public administration and policy analysis from CU Denver. \nShe is a member of the North Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Lewis Center\, Ohio. She lives in Waverly\, OH with her spouse\, Jerry\, and three lovely felines. \nJoin us downstairs after service for coffee and conversation. \nMasks are optional in the building\, and we fully support individuals’ choices regarding their use.
