SUMMARY:Dr. Paul Robinson — When You Come to the End of….
DESCRIPTION:Sunday Service — 10:30 a.m. \nLeader — Brian Moore \nSpeaker — Dr. Paul Robinson \nTitle — When You Come to the End of…. \nTopic —How you end a day\, a year\, and a life has much to do with how you begin them and lived them. There are two ways one can begin a day or go through life\, with thought or not\, with a purpose or perhaps a plan. Or one can just let whatever happen happen and then perhaps blame someone else or life itself. A day\, a life can be lived consciously or not. In this talk we will consider questions that you can ask yourself\, questions that can put you more in charge of the quality of your day\, year\, or life. It all comes down to how we handle our “good” and “bad” fortune. We can use all whatever happens in life as food for our psychological and spiritual growth- or not. That’s the challenge isn’t it. To live the life you want and not the one that perhaps just happened through fate. \nBio — At 83 Paul Robinson is continuing to wake up. He has been a student of life since beginning to wake up at the age of 17 when he started college. Being warned by his fundamentalist preacher not to listen to the more liberal college professors\, he was compelled to listen and to examine his beliefs. He has earned to listen to all points of view while sifting through them for the ones that are life affirming and rational. He loves all humanity and all life forms (except mosquitoes). He enjoyed a career in teaching and psychology for over fifty years. He continues to read and write and speak to groups. He grew up in rural Southeast Ohio in a family of ten children\, a family poor in material possessions but rich in love. He was blessed with a loving mother who along with the help of loving older brothers and sisters raised her children as a single parent at the death of his father when he was three. He loves sharing ideas with people and being challenged by their perspectives. He is enjoying meeting new people in this church where he feels right at home. \nJoin us downstairs after service for our monthly potluck. \nMasks are optional in the building\, and we fully support individuals’ choices regarding their use.

SUMMARY:Irv Oslin — War Stories: Confessions of a Hillbilly Pacifist
DESCRIPTION:Sunday Service — 10:30 a.m. \nLeader — Josh Ghiloni \nSpeaker — Irv Oslin \nTitle — War Stories: Confessions of a Hillbilly Pacifist \nTopic — So many ironies have revealed themselves to me through research. Things about the events\, the rise and fall of Allenwood Federal Prison Camp. The most shocking of which was that it was established as one of six concentration camps for “subversives” – as defined by government officials during the McCarthy Era. I’ll likely focus more on that evolution and implications … with reflections of the actual prison experience. Timely in a weird sort of way with the resurgence of dissent and mass protests. \nBio — Irv Oslin grew up in inner city Cleveland hearing war stories … on front porches\, at dinner tables and on TV. Which included lots of programs about war — things like “Combat!”\, “The Gallant Men\,” and the evening news. Like most working-class kids\, Irv grew up with a strong sense of patriotism\, assuming that he’d someday have war stories of his own to tell. He would\, indeed. Except his war stories are about life inside Lewisburg Federal Penitentiary and Allenwood Prison Camp … where he served time in the early ’70s as a conscientious objector. \nJoin us downstairs after service for coffee and conversation. \nMasks are optional in the building\, and we fully support individuals’ choices regarding their use.

SUMMARY:Samuel Prince — The Flow of Our Sacred Energy and Our Finite Frame
DESCRIPTION:Sunday Service — 10:30 a.m. \nLeader — Margaret Lin \nSpeaker — Samuel Prince \nTitle — The Flow of Our Sacred Energy and Our Finite Frame \nTopic — We fuse the Energizer Bunny’s relentless drive—that ‘keeps going and going’ momentum—with the transformative power of a Beloved Community. We don’t just solve problems; we build the internal infrastructure of support\, trust\, and shared values that ensures success is sustainable\, joyful\, and inclusive. Where’s your Energizer Bunny? \nBio — My 19 years serving as an Anglican Priest laid the foundation for my ecclesiastical education\, which became an intersection between my scriptural principles and sexual identity – and then having to choose which became and continue to be that identifiable mark in my life.  \nAfter searching for a spiritual home and questioning the denominational environments and validity of where I visited\, I came upon Unitarian Universalism and the Association\, becoming a member in June 3rd 2005\, having served on the General Assembly Planning Committee\, currently on the UU Funding Panel\, and Black Lives UU Organizing Collective\, serving as Board of Trustees Chair for two years and currently chair of Unitarian Universalist Justice Ohio. \nWith both Adult Religious Education and Social Justice as a continuum of my passions. \nJoin us downstairs after service for coffee and conversation. \nMasks are optional in the building\, and we fully support individuals’ choices regarding their use.

SUMMARY:Dr. Paul Robinson — Let 2026 Be Your Year of Peacemaking
DESCRIPTION:Sunday Service — 10:30 a.m. \nLeader — Reed Richmond \nSpeaker — Dr. Paul Robinson \nTitle — Let 2026 Be Your Year of Peacemaking \nTopic — A spirit of peace flows from a heart (mind) centered on pure\, unconditional love. Such a mind transcends the “noise” of our lives where we are assaulted daily with words and events that trigger inner turmoil or distress. Such a mind harbors no resentments\, no anger\, no malice or un-pure thoughts toward anybody.\nSuch a spirit is nurtured by the taming of our emotions and the integration and eventual synthesis of the competing subpersonalities we all experience as ourselves\, the “me” or “I” we identify with. The spirit of peace emerges when the locus of control of our behaviors is internal\, when our different subpersonalities quit competing with each other and when our behaviors are grounded in love. \nBio — Dr. Paul Robinson is a retired psychologist and NCSC professor where he taught for 24 years. He also was on the faculty at Oberlin College before moving back to the Mansfield area some 45 years ago. He was an avid bicyclist\, skier\, swimmer\, and hiker in his younger days. Now he works a small garden and tends to his property on Possum Run Road along with his wife of 64 years while still enjoying being with Mother Nature. \nJoin us downstairs after service for our monthly potluck. \nMasks are optional in the building\, and we fully support individuals’ choices regarding their use.

SUMMARY:Colleen Rice — From Harm to Healing: How Communities Can Prevent Violence Before It Begins
DESCRIPTION:Sunday Service — 10:30 a.m. \nLeader — Jen Gibson \nSpeaker — Colleen Rice \nTitle — From Harm to Healing: How Communities Can Prevent Violence Before It Begins \nTopic — Domestic violence does not emerge in isolation—it grows in the gaps where communities are under‑resourced\, relationships are unsupported\, and systems fail to uphold dignity\, equity\, and compassion. In this talk\, Colleen Rice\, Executive Director of the Richland County Domestic Violence Shelter\, explores how communities can move upstream to prevent violence before it starts. Drawing from decades of advocacy\, survivor‑centered leadership\, and community development work\, Colleen illustrates how prevention is not only possible but deeply interconnected with the principles of worth\, justice\, compassion\, and the interdependent web of life. \n“From Harm to Healing” ultimately affirms a powerful truth: when communities unite around dignity and justice\, we create the conditions for peace—one relationship\, one family\, and one compassionate act at a time. \nBio — Colleen Rice serves as the Executive Director of the Richland County Domestic Violence Shelter\, where she leads a mission to build a peaceful\, just\, and compassionate community. Under her leadership\, the Shelter provides comprehensive\, life‑saving services—including 24/7 shelter\, crisis hotline and chat\, emergency hospital response\, and specialized advocacy for survivors of domestic violence\, sexual assault\, human trafficking\, stalking\, and strangulation. \nColleen’s career reflects a deep commitment to the inherent worth and dignity of every person. Her leadership spans nearly 30 years of community and leadership development work and public health. \nA barrier‑breaker and equity advocate\, Colleen became the first woman to serve on the Western Reserve Masonic Community Board and has served on the National United for ALICE advisory board\, advancing racial and economic equity for working families. Her work recognizes that true safety is inseparable from justice\, compassion\, and community collaboration. \nThrough her mission‑driven leadership\, Colleen is dedicated to expanding access to safety while building pathways to healing\, empowerment\, and prevention—rooted in the belief that a peaceful future is possible when communities come together with courage and care. \nJoin us downstairs after service for coffee and conversation. \nMasks are optional in the building\, and we fully support individuals’ choices regarding their use.
