DESCRIPTION:Sunday Service — 10:30 a.m. \nLeader — Reed Richmond \nSpeaker — Joan Richmond \nTitle — Where Do We Go From Here? \nTopic — 204 years ago a circuit rider founded a faith community in Bellville\, Ohio\, planting a seed of Universalism as he traveled from Bellville to Lexington to Fredericktown to Mount Vernon and back\, generating a circuit of care that continues today. \nA few months ago\, our long-time pastor Will Humphrey took a post at East Shore UU Fellowship\, and left us a mission – in the period of transition\, he called on us to go on a new journey with a Vision Team whose job has been to ask the congregation – Who are we today? How has that seed sent out roots and stems into the community? How might we flower?\n\nSo we asked you\, the congregation\, to share with us your concerns and your hopes and dreams. We invited ministers and UUA officials to visit with us. We traveled to other UU churches in the area – Wooster\, Lewis Center\, North Royalton.\n\nNow time to share those ideas\, visions\, and dreams with you\, both large and small. Please join us as Vision Team Facilitator Joan Richmond shares the work of this inspired group\, including Jan Wheaton\, Jim Cooke\, Ryan Duncan\, Cristi Miller\, Nevaeh Frederick\, Jackie Moore\, and Tim Hicks. Through the alchemy of the individual and the community\, flame and the chalice\, the Unitarian Universalism of our spiritual tradition\, we hope to earn your trust and inspire our continuing UU journey.\n\nBio — Joan Richmond joined the All Souls congregation with her husband Reed in 2005. Born and raised on Bell Street\, she explored a variety of faiths\, from Texas back to Ohio\, before finding her way back to Bell Street. Joan serves as Board Secretary and teaches in the English department at Ohio State Mansfield\, closing in on 40 years of teaching. She and Reed also spent 15 years growing certified organic vegetables on Meadow Rise Farm.  Her husband Reed\, a retired health educator and writer\, have one daughter and son-in-law\, Catherine and Isaac\, two granddaughters\, Mariah and Alivia\, two white fuzzy dog beasts\, and one small\, lovely cat with a non-descript personality. \nJoin us downstairs after service for coffee and conversation. \nMasks are optional in the building\, and we fully support individuals’ choices regarding their use.

He also was on the faculty at Oberlin College before moving back to the Mansfield area some 45 years ago. He was an avid bicyclist\, skier\, swimmer\, and hiker in his younger days. Addicted to drugs and alcohol since he was very young\, he shares his life to others so that they can have hope in themselves as he has discovered within himself. He authored the book “From Park Bench to Park Avenue”\, in which he details his incredible journey from dysfunction and homelessness to recovery and triumph. He is currently pursuing his ultimate passion of giving hope and helping those still imprisoned by destructive behaviors.
