DESCRIPTION:Sunday Service – 10:30 a.m. \nSpeaker: Jacquie Zarley\nLeader: Hayley Young \nTitle: Anything worth doing is worth doing badly; in front of everyone\nTopic: In our capitalistic world\, we have all been conditioned to “produce”. Everything we do must be commodified and marketed. This type of thinking means everything must be perfect in order to please the masses. Not only does this prevent many of us from sharing our gifts and newly developing talents with others\, it also causes us to be terrified of making mistakes and failing in front of others. Failing and making mistakes is an important part of learning.\nThis “I must do it perfectly or not at all” mentality is a huge block to our anti-racism work. We are often so afraid to make mistakes and be called out that we stand frozen\, unable to take the risks necessary to change. What if we began to normalize making mistakes\, failing and doing things badly in front of others? How might this improve our ability to take risks? In a world full of fearful experts\, This sermon challenges you to dare to be a risk taking hot mess! \nBio: Jacquie Zarley is a 2020 graduate of the Methodist Theological School in Ohio. She is an Aspirant in the Unitarian Universalist Ministerial Fellowshiping process. She is a member.of the North Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Lewis Center\, Ohio.
