Topic — Summer is a great time to spend on the porch reading novels.  And a great time to perfect the latest guacamole recipe.  It’s also a good time to do something we don’t do very often — spend an afternoon in the sunshine thinking a bit about our lives and our spiritual journey.

While waiting for my knee surgery coming up July 14, I took a day to think about my own journey. (since my knee doesn’t allow me to walk well yet, there isn’t a whole lot else I could do.)  And I’d like to share with you some of the benefits of contemplating your own journey as well as give you a synopsis of what my sunny afternoon contemplations turned up for me.

Bio — Rev. Joan Van Becelaere is a retired Unitarian Universalist community minister. Prior to retirement, she was the Executive Director of Unitarian Universalist Justice Ohio. She has also served as regional Lead with the Central East Region, district executive for the old Ohio Meadville District,, vice president for student services at Iliff School of Theology in Denver CO. She has a long standing interest in politics and has a masters of public administration and policy analysis from CU Denver..

She is a member of the North Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Lewis Center, Ohio. Rev Joan lives in Waverly Ohio with her spouse Jerry and three lovely felines.
