Mark Jordan – “Nature vs. Nurture: New Perspectives in the Ceely Rose Murders”

June 20, 2021 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Sunday Service — 10:30 a.m.

Speaker: Mark Sebastian Jordan

Leader: Brian Moore

Title: “Nature vs. Nurture: New Perspectives in the Ceely Rose Murders”

Topic: Mark Sebastian Jordan updates his latest research in the Ceely Rose murder cases to coincide with the publication of his book from The History Press. New finds include Ceely Rose’s relationship to another murderer, executed in Ohio during the 1920’s which begs the question: Is this kind of madness innate or something caused by dysfunctional family/society?

Bio: Mark Sebastian Jordan has been an active presence on the Ohio arts scene for over thirty years as a writer, actor, director, playwright, and improv comedian. His Malabar Trilogy of historical dramas was featured in sell-out performances for a decade at Malabar Farm State Park.
Mark is a writer with numerous publication credits and awards, and works as a freelance journalist for publications all over the world. He has written about classical music for numerous publications, and currently reviews concerts for Seen & Heard International. Mark also gives music appreciation talks for the Mansfield Symphony.
Book publications include The Book of Jobs, 1776 & All That, Murder Ballads: American Crime Poems, and Slammer, Private Dick. Mark also writes for the blog Voices from the Borderlands. Mark has also just been awarded a grant for individual excellence from the Ohio Arts Council in criticism for his reviews and essays.
Mark describes himself as a refugee of the corporate business world, where he spent a decade in packaging purchasing. Finding himself compulsively writing and creating to escape the unfulfilling day job, he fled when a corporate buyout ended his position. Since then, he has only worked jobs that offer personal fulfillment and creativity. Starting in 2007, Mark began publicly sharing his work as a poet and storyteller and since then has performed all over Ohio.
