Topic — When the world feels heavy, many of us instinctively shrink our joy, dim our light, or carry more than is ours. But what if thriving in difficult times isn’t selfish but necessary for ourselves and our communities? This week we explore the courage it takes to flourish even in seasons of uncertainty, and how healthy boundaries and clarity about what we can and cannot control make long‑term compassion possible. A message for anyone learning to grow, heal, and live fully without apology.
Bio — LaVonne was born and raised as a 5th generation Montanan to a cattle
ranching family. She is the youngest of 6 children whose lives were permanently changed by the long term health effects common to rural ag communities in the 60s and 70s. Her experience with this realization made her begin to understand the inextricable connection between our food systems and our health at a very young age. LaVonne began speaking to people about ecofeminism and ecotheology.
After a career in the music industry LaVonne is now a 4th year Seminarian and Unitarian Universalist Aspirant at Methodist Theological School in Ohio and a fellowshipped pastor in Southern Oregon. LaVonne travels all over Southern Oregon offering sermons and support to small UU communities. She is also working as a Hospice Chaplain for Josephine County. LaVonne connects us to our grief and our joy to make meaning for UU Communities whenever possible.
