Christopher Reynolds — Phoenix Fire of Love’s Rebirth
Sunday Service — 10:30 a.m.
Fourth Sunday of Advent
Leader — Cindy Petri
Speaker — Christopher Reynolds
Title — Phoenix Fire of Love’s Rebirth
Topic — “Nowell” means “New Sun” in Gaelic. We are all psychologically rooted in the experience of the four seasons – in sensation, emotion, thought, and in intuition of the future. When we gather for the good of each other and all life in a winter solstice fire ceremony, we can symbolically participate in the death and rebirth of love and life. The outer experience mirrors our inner psychological reality. Joseph Campbell described this outer/inner experience as: In this life-creative adventure, The criterion of achievement will be the courage to let go of the past, with its truths, its goals, its dogmas of “meaning” and its gifts, to die to the world and come to birth within.
