Thank you for agreeing to speak at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church, and we appreciate your willingness to come to our church to do so. Here are a few tips to make your experience as smooth as possible.
Preparation of Message
When considering your presentation, please be aware of our technical capabilities so that you can tailor your presentation as needed. We have a standard lectern with a microphone for traditional talks. We also have a handheld microphone for use at a second position, if needed. We’ve used it for allowing speakers or leaders who are musicians to be seated or standing beside the lectern and be more visible. If you have other technical needs or your talk requires something not listed above, please reach out so that we can discuss how to handle your requests. We can often accommodate custom requests with some amount of adjustment or discussion.
We also have the capability to display slides from a variety of sources, including Google Slides. We can also pre-record certain portions of your presentation and insert them into the service in real-time. We do ask that you provide at least the sentence or two prior to each pre-recorded segment so that we can smoothly know when those need to be played.
Pre-Arrival
Before presenting in our church, you might want to be aware of your wardrobe choices. We have no specific dress code, but solid color clothing or large prints or patterns look better on camera.
At this time, we are maintaining a socially-distant experience without a regular audience. Regularly appearing on-site is the speaker for the service, the leader for the service, the technical team (Jen and Rob), and our daughter. The technical team will generally remain at the back of the church while you and the leader will present from the front of the sanctuary.
We ask that you arrive at the church at approximately 9:30am so that we can perform final audio and video checks before we go live at approximately 10:25am. We also want to be able to coordinate any final media updates and changes as needed.
